Om, also transcribed as Oṃ, is a syllable and sound, and one of the most sacred mantras of Dharmic religions (such as Hinduism and Buddhism).

It is considered the first sound (vibration) coming from the supreme deity that originates everything and in turn describes the supreme "spiritual reality."

According to some Hindu doctrines, om symbolizes the divine Brahman and the entire universe.
It is found for the first time 3,500 years ago in the oldest text of India, the Rigveda (from the middle of the 2nd millennium BC).
It is also called:
('syllable oṃ') strong chant, considered by Hindus to be the primordial symbol
aum (analysis of the letter o, which in the Sanskrit language is generally the conjunction of the letters a and u)
ą„ in the Devanagari syllabary.
In IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) it is written É™ĢƒÅ©.
